Meezy's Keys to the Game: Rams

Offense

Hass Has To Get It Together:
Matt Hasselbeck is the clear-cut leader of this team and they will only go as far as he takes them. Mathew has been a little erratic with his passing this year. He leads quarterbacks with 7 picks this season. The Rams lead the league with a +13 turnover differential, I don’t know how but they have been able to force turnovers and not commit them and that’s the number one reason why they are 4-1 and not 1-4. Hasselbeck cannot turn the ball over he needs to manage the game and not make stupid mistakes. I understand that the run game has been almost non-existent but he still can’t make stupid plays.

Run The Ball:
The Rams defense has been living off of turnovers and it s lot less likely to turnover the ball when you pound the rock. The Rams rush defense has been horrid this year. They gave up 100+ yards to Noah Herron and a bad Packers offensive line. Every one of their opponents has been able to run all over them so we should do the same. Give Morris the rock at least 20 times. Establish the run game early and continue it through out the game. I would like to see Weeks get some carries too. We haven’t been able to run the ball as of yet so this should be the running games coming out party, only fear is Holmy will dump it too soon and go exclusively pass.

7 In The Redzone:

I don’t know if it should be redzone or red zone so don’t comment on that I admittedly am somewhat illiterate or at least that’s what I think. With Shaun Alexander in the game redzone means 7 points. That’s all there is to it one you get inside the ten you can guarantee a TD, but without Alexander that isn’t true so much. But we need to be able to get touchdowns in the redzone and not field goals.

Defense

Get Off The Field
The defense has to be able to get off the field on third down. They do great on first and second but once it 3rd and 5 or more and you get your hopes up but then they shoot you right back down by giving up the first down. Some of it might be scheme or it maybe execution regardless we need to be able to get off the field on 3rd down and let the offense do their thing.

Don’t Give Up The Big Play
This was a key last week too and they refused to listen to it because the DB’s were getting burnt all day. Tory Holt is one of the best receivers in the league and he can beat you deep, short, on the sideline, or in the middle. Now the Rams haven’t shown too much of the deep pass but Bulger can get it there and their receivers can do damage so make sure we keep everything in front of us and not give up the big plays. Big Plays win games besides it just kills a defense so we need to avoid giving them up.

Pick Off Bulger
This is more for my enjoyment. The Rams and media keep bragging about how Bulger has went 200+ games without throwing a pick. Guess who the last team to pick him off was. Yup you guessed it right the Seattle Seahawks, so lets do it again and end his crappy streak, and make the Rams shut up. It would be really great if it was on his first pass play.
